Sinister Screams A New Trailer

Scary movies. They’re not really that scary are they? They all seem to follow a pattern of which an unsuspecting protagonist stumbles across/disturbs an age old artifact that unleashes hell on earth or, of course, a deformed/disturbed serial killer just wants to have some fun. Not this one.

From the same producers who brought you Insidious and Paranormal Activity –  Sinister follows the story of a true-crime novelist called Ellison (Ethan Hawke) who settles with his family in a new house, in a new town. As they start to unpack, Ellison stumbles across a box filled of 8mm films that captured the lives and tales of the previous families who lived in the same house. Terrifyingly, it also shows how they were murdered; what connects them all is a mysterious figure that hides behind symbols and returns to haunt Ellison’s family in shocking ways.

The trailer shows it mainly takes place in the house they live in but while Ellison puts on his detective hat, his children seem to interact with the dead families in a ‘sinister’ way. One of the most disturbing highlights in the trailer is Ellison’s son crawling out of a cardboard box. Naked. Almost possessed. And screams like he’s trapped inside his own body. Add lots of close encounters with bloody graffiti and you can see why it’s being hailed as one of the most memorable horror movie of the year.

Sinister arrives in UK Cinemas nationwide on October 5th however it’ll have its premier at Film4’s FrightFest this Sunday, August 26th. Don’t miss it. Security blankets are optional.
