16 research projects have been selected to receive funding from AniCura’s Research Fund in 2019. This is the fifth consecutive year that AniCura’s Research Fund supports projects in clinical research across Europe.
Since 2015, AniCura’s Research Fund strives at supporting research projects that can lead to significant improvements in animal health. AniCura’s Scientific Council evaluates nominated projects and decides which projects to support. In 2019, AniCura’s owner Mars Petcare decided to double AniCura’s Research Fund.
– We were pleased to receive a doubling of our research fund this year which led to 16 projects receiving substantial funding in 2019. I look forward to following this year’s projects which address issues such as faster resolution of lesions, epilepsy in dogs and amyloidosis in shelter cats, says Anna Tidholm, chairman of AniCura’s Scientific Council.
Projects eligible for research funding are required to adhere to certain criteria around academic quality, potential for publication in scientific, peer-reviewed journal and potential to improve diagnostic and/or treatment methods.
Veterinary research outside universities often lack financing, and through AniCura’s research Fund, veterinarians and nurses without connections to universities gain opportunities to pursue research.
