Dr. Dolinich-Matuska was presented with the “Teacher of the Year, 2018” Award by the Piano Teachers Society of America at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, NYC. Since 2007, Dr. Dolinich-Matuska has excelled as a teaching artist at the Freehold Music Center in Freehold, NJ. She previously worked as the director of the Union County Conservatory in Rahway, NJ, between 1982 and 2005 when she relocated to Whiting, NJ. Dr. Dolinich-Matuska also served as a faculty member and a mentor of graduate students in piano pedagogy at the Union Institute and University, as well as a faculty member at Felician College and Prince George's College.
Both a pianist and visual artist, Dr. Dolinich-Matuska's creative works have been presented internationally. In 2000, she was one of four artists selected from the United States to design and create Millennium Arts Time Capsules for the Montpelier Cultural Arts Center in Maryland. Dr. Dolinich-Matuska's time capsule was exhibited during 2000 and was sealed and stored to be opened in the year 3000.
An adjudicator for numerous piano competitions and art exhibitions throughout her career, Dr. Dolinich-Matuska also maintained her involvement as a curator of visual arts for Merck and Company, Inc., a critic for the Union County Teen Arts Festival at Union College, and a director of the Linden Art and Music Studio. Moreover, she participated as a professional review panelist for the Union County Arts Grants Committee. Dr. Dolinich-Matuska further found success as the chair of the Piano Teachers Society of America's (PTSA) music, art and poetry competition between 1998 and 2018.
Dr. Dolinich-Matuska was the recipient of a New Jersey State Council on the Arts fellowship in mixed media. She also accepted three History, Education and the Arts Reaching Thousands grants from the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, a grant from Robert Rauschenberg through Change, Inc. and a studio development grant from Merck and Company for her efforts at the Union County Conservatory. She has since been presented with several Genia Robinor Piano Pedagogy Awards from the PTSA and the Allison R. and Maria E. Drake Pedagogy Award for excellence in ensemble teaching. In 2000, Dr. Dolinich-Matuska was inducted into the National Association of Women Artists at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Dr. Dolinich-Matuska began her formal training in both piano and visual art at age five. First obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the Douglass Residential College at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, Dr. Dolinich-Matuska later earned a Master of Fine Arts in painting at Saint George University International in 2001. She continued her academic efforts at Saint George University International, graduating in 2002 with a Doctor of Fine Arts in interdisciplinary arts and interactive sculpture, summa cum laude. Dr. Dolinich-Matuska has held a national certification in piano pedagogy from the PTSA since 1994.
