With 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Rader is currently retired, having most recently served as a marketing technician and service principal at Advanced Elastomer Systems LP from 1991 to 2001. Prior to obtaining this role, he was marketing technician and service principal with the Monsanto Co. from 1988 to 1990, having been senior marketing technician and service specialist from 1983 to 1987. From 1975 to 1982, he was senior research group leader with the Monsanto Co., and from 1969 to 1974 he was research group leader. Earlier in his career, Dr. Rader was a research specialist with the Monsanto Co. from 1966 to 1969 and a senior research chemist from 1961 to 1965.
Dr. Rader began his career as a student at the University of Tennessee, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in chemistry in 1957. In 1954-56 he was on the varsity football team, first string, graduating summa cum laude and being on the All America scholastic team. He continued his studies with the university, earning a Master of Science in chemistry in 1960 and a Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry in 1961. Dr. Rader subsequently joined the United States Army, serving to the rank of first lieutenant from 1961 to 1963.
A respected voice in his areas of interest, Dr. Rader has been an active leader in his community as well. He is a member of the American Society for Testing and Materials, the American Chemical Society, the Society of Plastic Engineers, the Society of Automotive Engineers and the New York Academy of Sciences. Writing extensively in his areas of expertise, Dr. Rader has contributed more than 250 articles to professional journals in his field.
Throughout his career, Dr. Rader has been recognized for his contributions, including having received the Distinguished Award of Council from the Akron Council of Engineering and Science Societies in 1984. Additionally, he notably holds five patents in his field. In light of all his accomplishments, Dr. Rader has been featured in numerous honors publications, including Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the Midwest.
