Joe Le Mieux as Charlie Manson in I AM CHARLIE

The World Premiere of I AM CHARLIE Now Playing in Santa Monica at Promenade Playhouse

The material is interesting and in depth. Lead actor Joe Le Mieux keenly portrays Manson in all of his deluded, unaffected psychosis.”

SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA, USA, September 24, 2018 / — I AM CHARLIE a World Premiere play by Stephen A. Cardinal now playing at The Promenade Playhouse in Santa Monica, CA explores the question: Why is the Charlie meme chiseled in granite when other 20th century memes are completely and continuously malleable? Most people will agree what was bizarre in 1969 would be old news in a few days and forgotten in a week.

I Am Charlie is NOT the play you were expecting about Charles Manson. It looks at the Charles Manson story through the mind of Charlie himself. The plot uses stage devices and audio-visual technology to immerse the audience as participants. The audience becomes part of the play. The distance between fact and fiction is reduced, mimicking the blurring of truth and fiction in contemporary news media. Because we don’t really know the complete fact and fiction of the Manson story and the effects it has had on society in the last fifty years the play leaves it up to the audience to make that judgment on their own.

Joe LeMieux stars as Charlie Manson. Joe was born and raised in Venice, California. He enrolled in the Joan Baron Conservatory for the Cinematic Arts at the age of 20, and since then has directed and acted in several music videos, television commercials, comedy shorts, and feature films. Theatre trained actors will appreciate that Joe traveled to NY for a period of years and became extraordinarily “Meisner Trained” as a Bill Esper Conservatory graduate. Joe is currently appearing on the Instagram show “The Valet Boyz” and his upcoming Feature Film, “Happy Journey” is slated for release in Sept. 2018
