Wholeheartedly dedicated to helping others, Ms. Vaughn has spent her career in the field of nursing, currently holding the title of family nurse practitioner. She attended Johnston Memorial Hospital School of Nursing from 1965 to 1968, earning a diploma in nursing. She then attended East Tennessee State University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1981. She later returned to East Tennessee State University, earning a Master of Nursing in 1996. Ms. Vaughn also holds certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support as a way to further support her patients.

Ms. Vaughn's positions served are as vast as her love for her patients. She has worked as a family nurse practitioner for Woodridge Hospital from 2004 to 2006, Bluff City Medical Center from 2002 to 2004, and Blountville Internal Medicine from 2001 to 2002. Additionally, Ms. Vaughn held the post of family nurse practitioner for Holston Medical Services from 1998 to 1999 and Johnston Memorial Hospital from 1996 to 1998.

Before becoming a family nurse practitioner, Ms. Vaughn served as a staff nurse for Medical College Virginia from 1970 to 1972, Bristol Memorial Hospital from 1968 to 1970 as well as in both the intensive care unit and the coronary care unit for Chippenham Hospital from 1972 to 1973. Furthermore, she spent time holding various posts for the Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. She worked as a family nurse practitioner from 2006 to 2012, an employee health nurse practitioner from 1999 to 2001 and a family nurse practitioner in the emergency department in 1999. Ms. Vaughn's other positions with the institution include assistant nurse manager in the emergency department from 1992 to 1996 and staff nurse from 1973 to 1992.

Due to her dedication and expertise, Ms. Vaughn has been recognized by many organizations. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Northeast Tennessee Nurse Practitioners Association and the Physician Assistant Association. Furthermore, she holds membership with the Emergency Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau and Phi Kappa Phi. A leader and role model for others in the field of nursing, Ms. Vaughn held the position of president of the Appalachian Chapter of the Emergency Nurses Association from 1983 to 1984.

Influential and inspirational to many, Ms. Vaughn has been featured in various publications. She has appeared in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the South and Southwest as well as Who's Who of American Woman. Directly related to the field of nursing, Ms. Vaughn has been included in multiple editions of Who's Who in American Nursing as well as Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.
