Mr. Todd earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Wofford College (1974). He also earned a Masters in the Art of Teaching degree (1977) and a Masters in Library and Media Services degree (1996) from the University of South Carolina. He began his career in education with the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind in Spartanburg -serving as teacher, the Director of Library and Media Services and the Director of Residential Life from 19 9 to 2008. Currently Mr. Todd is the Head Boys and Girls Cross Country Coach at Spartanburg High School.

In addition to his primary responsibilities, Mr. Todd was the director of the Pan American Games for the Blind in 2001 and the director of the World Goalball Championships in 006. He has also served as a coach and technical official at numerous national and internationaI competitions for the disabled and has served on the Track and Field Technical Committee for the International Paralympic Committee. Civically, he founded the South Carolina Foundation for Disabled Athletes and has served as the chairman of Team Spartanburg (sports commission). He has additionally served on the board for the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce.

As a testament to his success, Mr. Todd has been recognized as the National Deaf Cross Country Coach of the Year. He was also inducted into the Hall of Fame for the United States Association for Blind Athletes, the Hall of Fame for the South Carolina chapter of the Road Runners Club of America, and the Hall of Fame (Lifetime Achievement) for USA Track and Field-South Carolina.
