An accomplished listee, Mr. Flavin celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Flavin has always had an interest in finance and was inspired by his father, who climbed the corporate ladder from IBM to Xerox to becoming the Chairman and CEO of the Singer Company. After returning stateside, he joined Reich & Tang, Inc. as a senior vice president for 10 years when that company was lauded as having the fourth best investment returns for the 1980's decade. His longest stint in the investment field was his last, when he co-founded and served as president and chief investment officer of Flavin, Blake & Co., Inc., in Stamford, CT from 1992 to 2008.

Civically, Mr. Flavin served in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of captain. He also served on the Board of Directors of Culp, Inc. (NYSE) as the Chairman of the Audit Committee for 19 years before standing down this year, but will maintain his affiliation with the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts and proudly maintain the honorific of being a CFA.
