Compared to two Chromebooks with processors from AMD and MediaTek, the Intel processor-powered Chromebook saved valuable time.
Durham, NC, June 26, 2019 — Principled Technologies (PT) measured the time it took to complete tasks in several education apps running on three Chromebooks:
– A Dell Chromebook 3100 powered by an Intel Celeron N4000 processor
– An HP Chromebook 11A G6 EE with an AMD A4-9120C processor
– A Lenovo 100e Chromebook with a MediaTek 8173C processor
PT found that the Intel Celeron N4000 processor-powered Chromebook saved time compared to the other systems: up to 62 percent on instructional tasks, up to 40 percent on coding tasks. The report notes in particular that “for students or faculty who need to edit video and audio, or explore and create 3D models, investing in an Intel Celeron N4000 processor-powered Dell Chromebook 3100 could present significant time savings.” On such multimedia tasks, the Intel Celeron processor-powered Chromebook saved up to 77 percent of the time it took to complete the tasks on the other devices.
