Tinuiti, North America’s largest independent performance and data-driven digital marketing agency, recently launched “T-Up,” a paid internship and mentoring program for college-bound seniors from Dillard High School, a Title 1 school in Ft. Lauderdale. The 10-week program connects career-oriented students with access to mentoring, digital marketing training, and the opportunity to hone professional and practical life skills including business etiquette and interview coaching.
The internship program is the brainchild of Tinuiti CEO Zach Morrison, a south Florida native and active partner with Junior Achievement of South Florida, a chapter of the national volunteer organization that utilizes experiential learning programs to promote work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy for kindergarten through high school students. Morrison was inspired to develop T-Up after speaking at Dillard during a “tech week” at the high school.
“I was immediately struck by the drive and passion of the students I met. I wanted to make sure that these bright and motivated young adults had access to the tools and experiences they will need to set them up for success in today’s job market. Like Social Entrepreneur Leilah Janah says, `talent is equally distributed, opportunity is not’,” said Morrison.
Morrison added, “Many internship programs teach students about business, but very few, if any, teach the important life skills that are necessary in and out of the workplace. We wanted to fill that gap.”
Tinuiti strives to make a difference in the world and its communities through initiatives like its Get Up and Live program, which offers free SEM services, SEO training and consulting to select non-profits, and the agency also organizes fundraising events for breast cancer charities and sponsors holiday food drives. The interns will receive training in specialized subject areas including paid search, analytics, and paid social, and will be assigned a business project. They will also participate in marketing, sales, finance, and HR workshops to further develop the skills needed to succeed in business today.
Digital marketing is a booming industry, and as the demand for qualified professionals grows, Tinuiti’s internship program will provide participating students with meaningful work experience and professional development opportunities.
