JACKSON, Miss., Jan. 21, 2019William Richard (“Bill”) Purdy is recognized by Continental Who's Who as Attorney of the Year in the field of Law. Mr. Purdy has over 40 years of experience, concentrating on construction law and government contracts.  He is licensed to practice in Mississippi and is admitted to federal courts across the country.

Mr. Purdy is a partner in the law firm of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP.  Tracing its founding in 1870, Bradley has become a nationally renowned law firm. Known for offering impeccable and exceptional service to their clients, Bradley was named by Best Lawyers as published in U.S. News and World Report as the national Law Firm of the Year 2018 in Construction Law.

Mr. Purdy attended the University of North Carolina School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 1975.  He also attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a Morehead Scholar, receiving a B.A. degree in 1972.

In recognition of his many professional achievements, Purdy was named 2014 Mississippi Lawyer of the Year, a peer-review award given by the Mississippi Business Journal. Additionally, Purdy was named as Mississippi Lawyer of the Year in Construction Law by Best Lawyers in America (2018-19); a Top 50 Lawyer in Mississippi by Mid-South Super Lawyers (2018 and multiple prior years); Leading International Construction Lawyer and Diamond Professional of the Year by Who's Who International Registry of Leading Professionals (2017-18); America's Most Honored Professionals, Top 1% 2016, by American Registry.

Bill Purdy has been recognized by his peers as a Fellow in the American College of Construction Lawyers, a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, a Fellow in the International Society of Barristers, and a Fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation.  Mr.  Purdy is a Master of the Bench of the Charles Clark Chapter of the American Inns of Court (President, 2012-2014).

Mr. Purdy served as an infantry company commander, 1st Marines, in Vietnam, where he received the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” for Valor and the Purple Heart Medal.
