MISSISSAUGA, ON – 12-21-2018 (PRDistribution.com) — Employers across Ontario now have a new way to connect with students for co-op placements, internships, or other experiential learning opportunities, thanks to the new Experiential Learning Peel Halton (ELPH) website, now live at www.elph.ca

With Christmas just days away, Santa’s elves may be hard at work, but there’s another ELPH now working just as hard in Peel and Halton; www.elph.ca

ELPH.ca is a brand-new website that will help employers connect with students for experiential learning opportunities; hands-on learning experiences where students learn new skills outside of the classroom setting. Experiential learning can range from longer-term, paid co-op placements and internships to simple day trips, volunteering, and job shadowing.

While the participating students benefit from greater learning, ELPH.ca will also provide an opportunity for organizations to tap into a massive talent pool of students and other underrepresented groups, helping to grow our collective future workforce for tomorrow, while creating new opportunities for today. Experiential learning works to bridge the gap between employers, students, and academic institutions, benefiting everyone involved.

“There’s a lot of misconception about what an experiential learning opportunity really is” said Shalini da Cunha, the Peel Halton LEPC’s Executive Director. “It’s not just an opportunity for a company to take advantage of low-cost labour, it’s really an opportunity for an organization to invest in its own future, by helping to groom and train the next generation of workers. We don’t want to see students just getting coffee or doing grunt work, we want them to be challenged and to contribute positively to the hosting organization. These are bright young people with great ideas, and they can really benefit an organization in both the short and long term.”

The new ELPH.ca site provides an all-in-one platform to research programs and then connect with the appropriate institution. Employers can find students for both paid and non-paid positions, for both short and long-term engagements.
