United States, California, Los Angeles – 10-25-2019 (PRDistribution.com) — David Steinberg, CEO of digital marketing giant Zeta Global, has been named a defendant in a sexual harassment lawsuit filed in Los Angeles. In the lawsuit, Mr. Steinberg is accused of groping and kissing his former Executive Assistant, along with making constant sexual remarks about her appearance and personal life. Zeta Global, headquartered in New York City, has 25 offices and more than 1,300 employees worldwide. In 2015 Forbe’s Magazine reported that Zeta Global was a “billion-dollar startup.” The company currently has data from more than 750 million consumer profiles, and provides marketing services based on the data mined from these profiles.
The lawsuit alleges that Kayla Dole, Mr. Steinberg’s former Executive Assistant, was subjected to outrageous daily commentary from Mr. Steinberg, including sexual innuendo, remarks about the race of potential clients, and statements that Ms. Dole needed to “marry someone rich like me.” The lawsuit also alleges that Mr. Steinberg lamented his wife’s pregnancy, and that he only wanted her to keep the baby if it was a boy. Ms. Dole is represented by Barbara E. Cowan, an attorney with Workplace Advocates.
Zeta Global is accused of refusing to take action to stop Mr. Steinberg’s harassing conduct, and of covering up the fact that Mr. Steinberg has a long history of engaging in sexually harassing conduct towards subordinate employees. The lawsuit also alleges that when Ms. Dole complained to Zeta Global’s Chief of Staff about Mr. Steinberg’s conduct, she was told she needed to “stroke his ego” and that the company had “feedback” about the way Ms. Dole spoke with Mr. Steinberg. Zeta Global’s Chief of Staff also accused Ms. Dole of not knowing how to speak to Mr. Steinberg because “you are ESL” — a crude reference to Ms. Dole’s Mexican-American heritage. Just days after Ms. Dole complained about Mr. Steinberg’s harassing conduct, her employment with Zeta Global was terminated.
The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges causes of action for gender violence, sexual harassment, and wrongful termination. Ms. Dole also seeks injunctive relief, and requests the Court issue an Order directing Zeta Global to properly discipline Mr. Steinberg for his offensive conduct.
