LOS ANGELES, CA, October 12, 2018 — Los Angeles City Council President Herb J. Wesson Jr., real estate marketing guru Michael Lewis and the Pet Care Foundation will be honored for their humane commitment to Building a No Kill Nation – One Stray at a Time at the Stray Cat Alliance gala on Oct. 13.

Almost 300 of Los Angeles' most generous and compassionate animal lovers are expected to attend the event, called the Stray Cat Club, at 6p Oct. 13 at the Montage Beverly Hills, 225 N. Canon Drive.

Lewis will be honored with the Stray Cat Alliance Impact Award for his leadership, philanthropy and thousands of hours of volunteering since the inception of Stray Cat Alliance. The Pet Care Foundation will be honored with the Stray Cat Alliance Lifeline Award for its pioneering philanthropy on behalf of animals and cats. Founded by the late philanthropist Paula Kent Meehan in 2003, the foundation is dedicated to the advocacy of shelter animals in Los Angeles City and County Shelters. Meehan founded Redken, a brand that innovated scientific shampoos and the sale of products from hair salons. Meehan, who died in 2014, was recognized as an outstanding female business executive and as a philanthropist who contributed to the arts, the Los Angeles community and animal welfare.

American actor, comedian and musician Hal Sparks is the emcee for the event. He is known for his contributions to VH1, hosting E!'s Talk Soup and the Queer as Folk TV series.
